What’s Coming to Liberty Hill

What’s Coming to Liberty Hill: Exciting New Developments & What They Mean for You
If you’ve been watching Liberty Hill grow, you already know big things are underway. New shops, restaurants, better schools, and more housing are changing the landscape — in a very positive way. Below is a closer look at the major projects in progress and why they are meaningful if you live here or are thinking about it.
Costco (with Fuel Station)
The Liberty Hill City Council recently conditionally approved a site plan for Costco Wholesale on nearly 40 acres near US 183 and Seward Junction Loop. The planned store will be about 156,000 square feet and include a fueling facility. Construction is expected to finish by the end of November. Once it opens, residents will have a local option for bulk groceries and essentials, eliminating many of the long drives outside town.
Target
Plans are in place for a $22 million Target store in Liberty Hill, located between US 183 and Highway 29, in one of the growing corridors. Construction is expected to begin in mid-2025, with a goal of opening in early 2026. Having both Costco and Target locally will make a huge difference in daily convenience for many families.
Project Well & Mixed-Use Developments
Project Well, led by Pohl Partners, is one of the new developments aimed at blending retail, housing, and essential services. The vision includes shops, multi-family homes, and service providers all in one place. This approach can reduce commutes, bring more local options, and help make Liberty Hill more walkable and connected.
New Dining & Restaurant Options
Liberty Hill’s food scene is growing too. Here are the restaurants coming soon:
- Whataburger is set to open its first Liberty Hill location.
- Bojangles has a development approved near Highway 29 as part of the Heritage Ridge project.
- Waffle House is also planned, as part of ongoing commercial expansion.
- Wish Kitchen & Bar, a new restaurant on Main Street in downtown Liberty Hill, is opening in September. Wish Kitchen & Bar will serve shareable bites, craft drinks, and aim to become a lively gathering spot for the community.
These additions bring more variety and convenience for residents, and also enhance the appeal of our town for newcomers.
Schools & Community Infrastructure
With all this development, Liberty Hill ISD is making investments to support growth. Plans include building a new (8th) elementary school, upgrading Liberty Hill High School, and expanding facilities for fine arts, band, and the district service center. These improvements help ensure that our schools can meet the needs of a growing student population.
Why This Matters for Homebuyers and Sellers
These projects are not just about new stores or restaurants. They have ripple effects across the local housing market and daily life.
Better Lifestyle and Convenience
Having major retailers, more dining, and local amenities close by makes daily life easier and more enjoyable.
Potential Property Value Growth
Infrastructure and retail growth often lead to rising property values. Early buyers may benefit from appreciation over time.
Strong Demand for Housing
Amenities attract new residents. As more people move in, housing demand is likely to increase. That is good news for sellers and builders.
Stronger Resale Appeal
Homes near shopping, restaurants, and schools tend to be more attractive to buyers. Being close to these new developments can raise the appeal of your property.
Balanced Growth Across the Area
Mixed-use projects and smart infrastructure planning help spread out commercial activity so growth doesn’t concentrate in just one congested zone.
What To Do Now (If You Are Buying or Selling)
If you are thinking about entering the market in Liberty Hill, now is a strategic time. Here’s what I recommend:
- Get in early: As these new amenities open, surrounding areas may see price increases.
- Watch growth corridors: Properties along Hwy 29, Hwy 183, and Seward Junction will likely benefit most.
- Ask about zoning and future plans: Make sure you understand how nearby development could affect your property.
- Choose location and access wisely: Look for homes with good road access, and proximity to new retail and school expansions.
- Work with a local realtor: Someone well-informed about upcoming projects can help you select areas that are poised for growth.
