Liberty Hill Is Getting a Target, and Not Just Any Target. Possibly the Largest One in the World.

If you live in Liberty Hill or have been keeping an eye on this area, you already know that things move fast out here. But this one stopped me in my tracks when I first heard about it. Liberty Hill is getting a Target. And not just a regular Target. A 148,000 square foot Target that is being reported as potentially the largest Target store in the world.

I have been working in this community long enough to remember when the nearest Target was a drive to Cedar Park or Georgetown. For anyone who has lived in Liberty Hill for more than a few years, you know exactly what that drive felt like at the end of a long week. This is a genuinely big deal for everyday life out here, and it is also another signal of just how much this community has grown and where it is headed.

Potentially the Largest Target Store in the World Is Coming to Liberty Hill

Located at 351 N. US Highway 183 at the corner of State Highway 29, the Liberty Hill Target broke ground in July 2025 and is scheduled for completion by June 2026. The $22 million project anchors Liberty Hill Crossing, a 35.5-acre retail development that will also include 50,000 square feet of additional commercial space and around 10 outparcels for restaurants and other businesses.

What Is Actually Being Built at Liberty Hill Crossing

The Target is the anchor, but the development surrounding it is just as exciting for the community. Liberty Hill Crossing is a 35.5-acre retail development at 351 North US Highway 183, right at the intersection of Highway 183 and State Highway 29. The city council approved the site plan back in January 2025, and the groundbreaking ceremony took place in March 2025 with Liberty Hill Mayor Crystal Mancilla and city council members present.

Beyond the Target itself, the development will include approximately 50,000 square feet of additional commercial space attached to the store, plus around 10 outparcels positioned along the edges of the property. Those outparcels are expected to include a mix of sit-down restaurants, fast food, and possibly a bank or carwash. Specific tenants have not been announced yet, but the first businesses are expected to be open around mid-2026 alongside the Target.

Why This Matters More Than Just a Convenient Shopping Trip

I want to be honest with you about why I think this is worth talking about beyond the obvious excitement of not having to drive to Cedar Park every time you need a throw pillow or a bottle of shampoo. The arrival of a retailer like Target in Liberty Hill is a meaningful statement about this community and its trajectory.

Retailers like Target do not make decisions like this lightly. They study population data, income demographics, growth projections, and long-term market trends before committing to a $22 million project. The fact that Liberty Hill was selected for what could be the largest Target store in the world tells you something real about how this community is being viewed from the outside. Liberty Hill is not a small town quietly growing anymore. It is on the radar in a big way.

Liberty Hill is among the fastest-growing cities in Texas, with a 185% population increase between April 2020 and July 2023. That kind of growth attracts investment, and investment like this raises the quality of everyday life for everyone who lives here.

Mayor Crystal Mancilla put it well at the groundbreaking ceremony, expressing excitement about the convenience the center will bring to residents and the sales tax revenue it will generate for the city. That sales tax revenue matters because it funds the kinds of city services and infrastructure improvements that make a growing community work well for the people who live in it.

What This Means If You Own a Home in Liberty Hill

As a real estate professional who works in this market every day, I pay close attention to the kind of retail and commercial development that follows residential growth in a community. It is one of the clearest indicators of where a neighborhood is headed. When major national retailers choose to invest in a city, it validates what homeowners and buyers already sensed about the area and it tends to attract more of the same.

For homeowners in Liberty Hill, the arrival of a fully developed retail corridor at 183 and 29 adds a layer of everyday convenience that directly affects quality of life. And quality of life is one of the most powerful factors in home values. Buyers who are choosing between communities are absolutely factoring in what is nearby. Walkable or driveable retail, good restaurants, and recognizable anchors like Target matter in that decision. This development makes Liberty Hill more competitive and more attractive as a place to live.

For anyone who has been on the fence about buying in Liberty Hill or the surrounding Williamson County area, this is another piece of the picture that is hard to ignore. The infrastructure is following the growth. That is exactly what you want to see in a market you are buying into for the long term.

What This Means If You Are Thinking About Moving to Liberty Hill

If you have been considering a move to Liberty Hill, Georgetown, or anywhere in the greater Williamson County area, the development of Liberty Hill Crossing is one more reason to take this community seriously. The Texas Hill Country location, the open land, the quality school districts, and the genuine small-town character have always been the draw. What has been missing for some buyers is the retail and dining infrastructure that makes daily life easier.

That gap is closing fast. Liberty Hill is getting the amenities that match its growth, and this Target development is one of the most visible examples of that shift. The community is not sacrificing its character to grow. It is adding the kind of thoughtful, practical infrastructure that makes living here genuinely better every day.

Between developments like Liberty Hill Crossing, communities like Serenity Springs offering custom home building on acreage, and the continued expansion of local dining and entertainment options, Liberty Hill is becoming one of the most well-rounded places to live in all of Central Texas. And for those of us who have been here a while, that is really exciting to watch.

Keep an Eye on Liberty Hill Crossing

Construction is actively underway at 351 North US Highway 183. The Target is expected to open by June 2026, and the surrounding outparcels and tenants should begin opening around the same time. If you drive through Liberty Hill regularly, you have probably already seen the progress on site. It is moving quickly.

I will continue sharing updates as more tenant announcements come through for Liberty Hill Crossing. This is the kind of development that the whole community has been watching, and there is a lot more news still to come as businesses start signing leases and making announcements. Stay tuned.
